Who We Are
Home and family. No matter what how you feel about those two words, let us
introduce you to another kind of family, another idea of home.
Here at First Baptist, we all wear different clothes, work different jobs,
reside in different houses, drive different cars, but we live the same faith.
First Baptist is a place where we plant seeds of faith through our
children’s ministry and
youth ministry, we encourage each other as our
faith grows, and we
reach out to the community, sharing the good news of our faith.
Our family celebrates together, comforts each other, and provides for one
another.
In a world that changes and shifts, we provide a constant in God’s love for
the residents and wayfarers of Bates County. Whether you have lived in Bates
County your whole life, you moved for school, or your job transferred you to the
area, we have a place for you.
We welcome you to join our faith family. At First Baptist, you are home.
A Place You Can Be!
We want to help people Believe in Jesus, Belong to His family, and Become
their best by Becoming more like Him.
Believe. God wants us to believe in His Son. What you believe matters. Most
of all, we believe in Jesus Christ and that through faith alone in Him alone
everyone can receive forgiveness and eternal life. God wants everyone in the
world to hear this good news and we want to help make that happen every way we
can.
Belong. God wants us to belong to His family. Church is a spiritual family,
a community of fellow believers. Even though we all have shortcomings, we need a
place where we are accepted and loved. And while coming to the worship services
is vital, we really feel connected through being a part of a small group where
people know our names and share our lives. It might be a Sunday School Class, or
a group of people going through the same things in life, or some other small
group built around a teaching topic or Bible study. It gives us a sense of
belonging as we learn together, serve together, have fun together and share one
another’s burdens.
Become. God wants us to become like His Son. He wants to change us from the
inside out. He wants to help us overcome our weaknesses and become people who
demonstrate the difference Jesus makes in our lives. He helps us become people
of love, integrity, passionate worship, courageous witness, and selfless
service. It is in the pages of the Bible that we find our teaching and
instruction to live the life he calls us to. We want to learn its truths not
just for information, but for transformation.
First Baptist is has a deep desire to know, follow, and fulfill the will of
God as revealed in His Word … nothing less, nothing more, nothing else!
